The French Ministry of Labor announced that the minimum wage will increase by 2.19 percent to 11.52 euros (12.73 dollars) per hour starting May 1, "in an attempt to help workers cope with inflation." This raises the minimum monthly wage from 1,709.28 euros to 1,747.20 euros.
Data released earlier today showed that annual inflation in France in March rose slightly more than expected to 5.7 percent, although this represents a decrease from the inflation rate of 6.3 percent recorded in February.
