Chinese Balloon Used American Technology to Spy on Washington?

The American newspaper "The Wall Street Journal," citing preliminary investigation results, reported that "the Chinese spy balloon that crossed over the United States earlier this year used American technology that helped it collect audio and visual information." The newspaper quoted U.S. officials saying, "Several American defense and intelligence agencies conducted an analysis which concluded that the balloon was equipped with commercially available American devices alongside specialized Chinese sensors and other equipment to capture images, videos, and collect additional information to transmit back to China." The report added, "The findings support the view that the balloon aimed to carry out espionage rather than monitor weather conditions as claimed by China." However, "The Wall Street Journal" stated that "the balloon did not seem to send any data back to China from its eight-day journey, during which it crossed over Alaska, Canada, and some other U.S. border states."
