Arab Food Security at the Forefront of the Algeria Summit Agenda

The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, stated that the current international conditions require Arab countries to formulate strong positions. In his speech during the meeting of the Council of Arab Foreign Ministers on Saturday, Aboul Gheit called for collective action to end the crises in Syria, Libya, and Yemen. He said, "The reality of the crises must occupy an important place on the summit's agenda, and the food crisis represents a significant priority. We hope to launch a strategy to achieve Arab food security." Aboul Gheit affirmed, "We can say without exaggeration that the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories is on the brink of explosion." The Secretary-General of the Arab League indicated that the summit looks forward to a realistic translation of the Algeria Agreement (Palestinian reconciliation) and the commitment of the Palestinian parties to its provisions. The upcoming summit is expected to be a significant milestone in renewing the momentum of joint Arab work.
