Sevilla Rewards Coach with New Contract

Sevilla rewarded their coach José Luis Mendilibar for winning the UEFA Europa League title by extending his contract for one more season, announced on Tuesday. Sevilla, which triumphed over Roma in a penalty shootout in the Europa League final at the end of last month, stated on their website that they have extended Mendilibar's contract until June 2024. Mendilibar took over as Sevilla's coach on March 21 of last year, replacing Argentine coach Jorge Sampaoli, with a contract set to last until the end of the season, aiming to steer the struggling team away from the relegation zone, which he successfully achieved. Mendilibar also led Sevilla to advance in the Europa League, defeating Manchester United and Juventus, before clinching the title for the seventh time in Budapest after overcoming José Mourinho's team.
