U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken told French radio station "RFI" in an interview on Tuesday that "diplomacy is the best way to resolve the situation in Niger," following the coup that took place in the African nation on July 26. Blinken stated, "There is no doubt that diplomacy is the best way to address this situation," adding that "the United States supports the initiative of West African leaders to hold a summit on Thursday to discuss the situation in Niger." He refrained from commenting on the possibility of U.S. troops withdrawing from there.
