After the Coup: Nigeria Cuts Electricity to Niger

A government document in Niger revealed today, Wednesday, that electricity supplies from Nigeria via the Birnin-Kebbi transmission line, which has a capacity of 80 megawatts, have dropped to zero. The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) decided on Sunday to close the borders with Niger, ban commercial flights, and halt financial transactions following the military coup that occurred there last week.
