The spokesperson for the Egyptian presidency, Ahmed Fahmy, stated today, Sunday, that Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, during which they discussed the ongoing events in Sudan. The spokesperson noted that the two leaders expressed "serious concern regarding the escalation of violence and fighting in Sudan," and addressed "efforts to evacuate the nationals of both countries from Sudan." He added that El-Sisi outlined during the call Egypt's efforts "to encourage all parties to reach a ceasefire and put an end to the suffering of the Sudanese people." Fahmy emphasized that El-Sisi affirmed the necessity of activating dialogue and a political path to spare Sudan from catastrophic repercussions.
