Two U.S. officials told Reuters on Thursday that an American F-16 fighter jet shot down a Turkish drone operating near U.S. forces in Syria. The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, added that the United States made several calls to Turkish officials to warn them that they were operating near U.S. ground troops.
