Ankara indicated today, Saturday, that "the Turkish Vice President and Minister of Finance will head to Qatar to discuss economic cooperation opportunities with the leaders there, ahead of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's scheduled visit to the Gulf region from July 17 to 19." The government stated that Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz and Finance and Treasury Minister Mehmet Şimşek will meet with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and other officials this week to discuss economic relations and enhance ties. Both Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek and Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz are heading to Qatar today for a series of meetings aimed at strengthening relations between Turkey and Qatar and assessing economic cooperation opportunities.
