The New York Times indicated that "Israeli and American sources currently estimate that Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah is not interested in a full-scale war with Israel, fearing the damage it would inflict on Hezbollah and Lebanon." It added: "American officials stated that the assessment may change as more intelligence is gathered and events unfold."
