The government of Paraná state announced in a statement today, Thursday, that at least eight people have died and a ninth is considered missing, while about 12 others were injured after an explosion at a grain silo yesterday at an agricultural cooperative in southern Brazil. The explosion occurred at the Civaly cooperative in the small town of Palotina, approximately 600 kilometers from Curitiba, the state capital. Paraná is one of Brazil's largest grain-producing states. The cause of the explosion is not immediately clear.
