Azerbaijan President Raises National Flag in Karabakh

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev raised his country's flag in the city of Khankendi, the capital of the Nagorno-Karabakh region, on Sunday, following a swift military operation last month that restored the region to Azerbaijan's control. The president's office stated that "Aliyev also delivered a speech." The capital, known as Khankendi in Azerbaijan and Stepanakert among Armenians, fell to Azerbaijan after security forces defeated Armenian fighters last month, prompting most of the 120,000 Armenians in Karabakh to flee to Armenia.
