Kremlin Issues First Video Statement from Putin After Wagner Rebellion

Russian President Vladimir Putin issued his first statement today, Monday, via the Kremlin's website since the armed rebellion by the Wagner private military group, in which he congratulated participants at an industrial forum. The timing and location of Putin's statement have not been made clear.

On Saturday, Putin delivered a national address to the Russian people, condemning the Wagner rebellion as a "stab in the back," and vowed to crush it. He has not publicly commented on the agreement announced late Saturday, which appears to have defused the crisis and spared the country from potential bloodshed by allowing Wagner fighters to return to their bases, while their leader, Yevgeny Prigozhin, moved to Belarus.

Additionally, Russian President Vladimir Putin extended the Russian government's measures to handle the price cap on Russian oil and petroleum products, imposed by Western countries, until the end of 2023. This was stated in a decree published on a government website.
