The Prosecutor General of Cassation, Judge Ghassan Oueidat, received the Director General of the Ministry of Agriculture, Louis Lahoud, in his office at the Palace of Justice in Beirut. During the visit, they discussed ways to enhance cooperation and coordination between the Cassation Public Prosecution, the appellate public prosecutions, and the Ministry of Agriculture across various Lebanese regions. They also focused on following up on the joint campaigns conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture under the supervision of the competent judiciary to control and confiscate agricultural products of non-Lebanese origin, aiming to protect local agricultural produce and support Lebanese farmers. Additionally, they addressed the raids on agricultural pharmacies and stores, warehouses of prohibited and expired agricultural medications, establishments selling animals and their supplies, and veterinary clinics that violate laws and regulations, aiming to confiscate all non-compliant veterinary vaccines, medications, and equipment. Lahoud expressed gratitude to Prosecutor General Oueidat and the appellate public prosecutors in Lebanon for their support to Ministry of Agriculture teams in addressing violations to enhance food safety and protect farmers and Lebanese agricultural production.
