A security source told Reuters and the Kurdish Rudaw TV channel that a senior official from an intelligence agency linked to a powerful Iraqi Kurdish party was killed on Sunday evening in a car explosion in the city of Duhok in the Kurdistan region. The official, named Muhammad Mirza Sindi, was a former senior officer in the Parastin intelligence agency established by the Kurdistan Democratic Party, one of the two parties governing the region in northern Iraq. Videos released by local media showed smoke rising from the wreckage of the car. The security source stated that an investigation into the incident is underway, adding that the cause of the explosion is not yet known.
