Rublev Grateful for Fan Support at Wimbledon

Russian tennis player Andrey Rublev expressed his gratitude to the fans in the main court at Wimbledon for their support during his unsuccessful attempt on Tuesday to dethrone reigning champion Novak Djokovic.

Rublev (25) noted after losing 4-6, 6-1, 6-4, 6-3 in the quarter-finals against Djokovic, "Last year, I was deprived of playing in one of the best tournaments in our sport, but I feel great gratitude to be here this year." He added, "I felt a great support during these two weeks, this support, despite belonging to a country you all know in these circumstances, has a special flavor."

In a post-match interview, Rublev said, "To be from the country where I am, to have this support... it's special. I feel sometimes I don't deserve it or something like that. I'm really grateful for this."
