Russia has started exporting diesel to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in February as part of its efforts to counter the European Union's ban on Russian imports. A comprehensive ban by the European Union on Russian oil products came into effect on February 5, prompting Russian exporters to redirect their shipments to Africa and Asia, as well as to transfer cargo from one ship to another.
Data from Refinitiv shows that at least three tankers carrying 190,000 tons of diesel were loaded at the Russian port of Primorsk on the Baltic Sea, currently en route to Saudi Arabia. The data confirmed that the tanker Serene, carrying 66,000 tons of Russian diesel, is being unloaded at the port of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, while the tankers Abanimo and Zaria are heading to Ras Tanura.
Traders have confirmed that Saudi Arabia, which exports large quantities of oil products, could re-export Russian diesel to other destinations after refining it.
