Naval Today reported that India has begun manufacturing new anti-submarine military ships for its navy. The website stated, "Recently, the dockyard of Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers in India held a ceremony to kick off the construction of two new ASW SWC-class anti-submarine vessels." The Indian Defense Minister attended the ceremony and praised the efforts involved in the development of these ships, confirming that 80% of the new ASW SWC ships' components are locally produced, enhancing India's military industrial capabilities.
The report further mentioned that Indian companies "CSL" and "GRSE" are currently working on the development project for ASW SWC ships for the country’s military, with each company expected to deliver 8 vessels to the Indian Ministry of Defense. The ships being developed by "GRSE" are projected to have a displacement of 900 tons, a length of 77.6 meters, a width of 10.5 meters, and will be capable of speeds up to 25 nautical knots, able to cover a distance of 1800 nautical miles per mission. They will be armed with 30mm CRN-91 guns, 324mm torpedoes, RBU-6000 anti-submarine rocket and bomb launchers, and remotely controlled 12.7mm machine guns.
