Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmed issued a decision today, Wednesday, to suspend decisions regarding appointments, promotions, transfers, assignments, and secondments in all state agencies for a period of three months, subject to renewal. The decision, published in the official gazette, states that "the aim of the decision is to achieve the public interest, and all state agencies must work to implement it." This decision comes at a time when the Emir of the country, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, 86 years old, is hospitalized "for treatment and medical examinations due to an emergency health issue." The Kuwaiti Minister of the Amiri Diwan confirmed that "the health condition of Al-Sabah is stable." The Emir had previously issued an Amiri order in November 2021, delegating some of his constitutional powers to the Crown Prince temporarily.
