Russian President Vladimir Putin revealed during his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in the Kremlin that the discussions resulted in two important documents that form the basis for cooperation between the two countries. He announced that trade with China is expected to rise by 30%.
He pointed out that "there is an opportunity for joint projects worth $130 billion," adding that "all parameters of the 'Power of Siberia-2' project have been nearly agreed upon." Putin called for increased encouragement of mutual settlements with China in national currencies, as about a third of Russia's trade relationship with China is conducted this way.
Putin expressed his readiness to "facilitate the work of Chinese companies in Russia instead of the Western companies that have left the country," noting that "Russia is capable of meeting China's energy needs." He described the discussions with his Chinese counterpart as "successful and constructive," hoping to remain in continuous contact with Xi in the future.
For his part, President Xi announced that they have reached tangible results in their partnership and are developing cooperation, clarifying that they are working on modernizing and developing the objectives of the full partnership with Russia until 2030.
According to the agenda for the second day of the Chinese president's visit to Moscow, extensive talks will also be held between representatives of the two countries in the Kremlin. It is also scheduled that the Russian and Chinese sides will sign nearly 10 joint documents today, including two main documents: the "Joint Statement by Russia and China on Deepening the Partnership and Strategic Interaction in Alignment with Entering a New Era" and the "Joint Statement on the Development Plan for Key Areas of Economic Cooperation for 2030."
