U.S. Sends First Depleted Uranium Munitions to Ukraine

A document reviewed by Reuters, confirmed by two separate U.S. officials, indicates that President Joe Biden's administration will send depleted uranium armor-piercing munitions to Ukraine for the first time. These types of shells can help destroy Russian tanks and are part of a new military aid package for Kyiv that is expected to be unveiled next week. The munitions can be fired from American Abrams tanks, which a source indicated are expected to be delivered to Ukraine within weeks. One U.S. official stated on Monday that the new aid package will range in value from $240 million to $375 million, depending on its contents.
