Keys Prepares for Wimbledon by Winning Title in Eastbourne

Madison Keys has sent an early warning to the rest of the competitors by firmly asserting her seriousness in the race for the Wimbledon tennis championship after winning the title in Eastbourne, England, for the second time on Saturday, nine years after her first victory.

The American player triumphed over Russian Daria Kasatkina with scores of 6-2 and 7-6, in one hour and 42 minutes, claiming her seventh title in the WTA tournaments, but it is her first title on grass courts since 2016.

After her victory, Keys stated, "I love being here and playing. Winning the title here for the second time certainly brings back a lot of wonderful memories from Eastbourne."

Keys, who is ranked 25th, will focus on the Wimbledon title, which begins tomorrow, Monday, and runs until July 16, where she will start her journey in the first round against British wildcard participant Sonay Kartal.
