Hezbollah announced in a statement today that "the Zionist occupation forces have recently taken serious measures in the northern section of the border town of Ghajar, which is the Lebanese section recognized by the United Nations as part of Lebanese territory, with no discussion or dispute about it. These measures included the construction of barbed wire and a concrete wall around the entire town, similar to what they are doing along the border between Lebanon and occupied Palestine, which has severed this village from its historical natural surroundings within Lebanese territory. The occupation forces have imposed their authority entirely over both the Lebanese and occupied sections of the town and subjected it to their administration while simultaneously opening the village to tourists coming from within the Zionist entity." The statement further considered that "these serious measures and significant development constitute a complete occupation of the Lebanese section of the town of Ghajar by force of arms and the imposition of a fait accompli, which is not merely a routine violation that the occupation forces are accustomed to from time to time." The party added in its statement: "In light of this serious development, we call on the Lebanese state with all its institutions, especially the Lebanese government, and we also call on the Lebanese people and all their political and civil forces to take action to prevent the consolidation of this occupation, to annul the aggressive measures taken, and to work towards liberating this part of our land and returning it to the homeland."
