US National Hurricane Center: Tropical Low Over Yucatan Channel May Develop into Hurricane

The US National Hurricane Center reported that a new tropical low has formed near the Yucatan Channel and may develop into a hurricane over the eastern Gulf of Mexico by Tuesday. The weather agency based in Miami stated, "Intensity is expected to gradually increase over the next few days, and the system is likely to become a tropical storm today, Sunday. It could then become a hurricane over the eastern Gulf of Mexico by Tuesday." The center added that the low is located about 70 kilometers between the eastern and northeastern areas of Cozumel, Mexico.
