The head of the Finance and Budget Committee, MP Ibrahim Kanaan, announced that "the forensic audit must be completed at the Central Bank of Lebanon and must include the assets of banks either by it or through an international auditing firm, which should have been done since 2019 following the financial collapse." He pointed out in a press conference after the committee meeting that "we will monitor the judicial process regarding the forensic audit, and we have sounded the alarm since 2010 through parliamentary oversight, which led to $27 billion of expenditures without known particulars, and the Court of Accounts has not issued a decision regarding them." Kanaan emphasized "the necessity of completing the forensic and accounting audit in ministries and state administrations to determine all responsibilities," noting that "we will begin sessions next week with the Central Bank and the relevant ministries concerning the reform laws related to restoring financial balance, restructuring, and conducting a neutral audit of the accounts of the banks and the state."
