The Turkish Red Crescent announced on Friday that a Turkish military plane carrying humanitarian aid for Palestinians in Gaza has arrived in Egypt, coinciding with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's condemnation of human rights violations against civilians in the region as "unacceptable."
The Turkish Red Crescent posted on the platform X (formerly Twitter) stating, "The first plane loaded with your aid has landed. The aid supplies provided for Gaza from your donations have arrived in Egypt and are being loaded onto trucks at El Arish Airport."
While the Turkish Red Crescent did not specify the nature of the aid supplies, the official TRT Haber channel reported that the shipment includes food and medical supplies, which will be transported to Gaza via the Egyptian Rafah crossing.
Footage of the aid being unloaded at El Arish Airport, shared by the Turkish Red Crescent on X, showed boxes covered with the logo of the Turkish Disaster Management Authority and decorated with Turkish and Palestinian flags. The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority has yet to respond to a Reuters request for comment.
This aid shipment arrives as the Turkish Foreign Minister heads to Cairo for discussions on regional and bilateral issues, marking the first visit between the two countries as they work to mend relations after years of hostility following the return of ambassadors.
