Minister of Public Works and Transport in the caretaker government, Ali Himieh, emphasized during his chairing of a meeting with the directors of the four maritime ports in Lebanon (Tripoli, Beirut, Sidon, and Tyre), that "it is known that these vital facilities are essential for the operation of the state and the citizens alike." He pointed out that "the steps that should be prepared and implemented in case of any emergency should be complementary among all the ports," stressing the importance of maintaining their intended role - at least to a minimal extent - under any exceptional circumstances that may arise. The minister urged officials in this sector "to ensure that all recommended steps are in accordance with legal regulations, as well as being flexible, adaptable, and responsive to any exceptional situations that may occur in any of these ports," advising "to enhance communication among them to coordinate and integrate steps, especially during the current period and the subsequent one."
