China's Foreign Minister Discusses Crisis in Israel and Gaza with Blinken

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that "Minister Wang Yi spoke via phone with his American counterpart Antony Blinken today, Saturday, about the crisis in Israel and Gaza." They called in a statement for "an international peace conference to be held as soon as possible," warning that "the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is escalating and may spiral out of control." Wang told Blinken, "China rejects all actions that harm civilians and condemns practices that violate international law." Meanwhile, U.S. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller highlighted that "Blinken had a phone call with Chinese chief diplomat Wang Yi, seeking cooperation from Beijing to prevent the conflict between Israel and Hamas from expanding."
