Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau joined a march with protesters gathered in the capital Ottawa, in support of the protest movement that has been ongoing in Iran for more than 40 days. Trudeau told reporters, speaking in front of a white banner covered with dozens of red handprints: “We will continue our struggle for a better future for everyone around the globe, especially women who have suffered in Iran.” He added, “We are here in solidarity with you and will remain so,” before concluding his speech by chanting Iranian slogans, raising his fist amid the cheers of the crowd. Beside him, his wife, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, stated that she attended because “women's freedom means freedom for all women.” The Canadian Prime Minister also reminded that he imposed several sanctions last month on dozens of senior officials in the Iranian regime in response to “systematic human rights violations” during the protests in Iran. Gatherings were organized in other Canadian cities, particularly in Vancouver, Montreal, Winnipeg, and Toronto, where protesters formed human chains. Thousands also gathered on Saturday in Paris and other French cities.
