Iraqi Interior Ministry Reveals Cause of "Hamdaniya Wedding" Fire

The Iraqi Interior Ministry announced that the cause of the "Hamdaniya wedding" fire was a source of ignition that came into contact with flammable materials in the hall. According to the investigation results, the ministry stated that the ceiling of the hall was constructed from combustible materials and was decorated with flammable substances, with fireworks being the main cause of the fire. The ministry added that the number of fire casualties reached 107 fatalities, in addition to 82 injuries. The committee issued several recommendations, including the dismissal of officials and referring them for investigation, as the district mayor of Hamdaniya and other officials were relieved of their duties due to proven negligence. The Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council announced the interrogation of 9 suspects and the issuance of arrest and search warrants against two individuals.
