U.S. President Joe Biden referred to himself as the record holder for communicating with Chinese leader Xi Jinping. During a meeting with Pentagon leadership, Biden stated, "I have spent more time talking to Xi Jinping than any other world leader, 78 hours, just the two of us." He noted that part of the accumulated negotiation time with the Chinese leader occurred while he was serving as Vice President of the United States. Biden added that he was responsible for managing the increasing and intense competition between Washington and Beijing. He concluded his remarks by saying, "We need to maintain our military superiority by clarifying that we are not seeking conflict."
