Germany suffered a setback with a 2-0 defeat to Colombia in a friendly match on Tuesday, continuing the struggles of the host nation for the upcoming 2024 European Championship. Luis Díaz scored with a header in the 54th minute, followed by Juan Cuadrado, who added a second goal from a penalty kick eight minutes before the end, marking Colombia's first victory against Germany. The German fans booed their players at the end of the match.

Germany had 65% possession but failed to produce a single shot on target in the first half. Díaz opened the scoring after receiving a pass from Cuadrado, capitalizing on a mistake from Emre Can, who miscontrolled the ball. Cuadrado converted the penalty awarded for a handball by Joshua Kimmich. Colombia dominated the match, creating several opportunities that were saved by goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen in the first half.

Germany, with less than a year to develop a competitive team for the continental tournament, had previously come back from a 3-1 deficit to draw 3-3 against Ukraine last week before losing 1-0 to Poland on Friday. The four-time World Cup winners have won just one match in their last five since exiting the group stage of the World Cup held in Qatar last December.

During the match, environmental activists invaded the pitch to protest against the use of coal and its importation from Colombia.
