The U.S. Embassy in Lebanon announced today, Friday, that there have been 12 hours of calm along the Blue Line, where daily exchanges of gunfire between Hezbollah and Israel had been taking place. Residents reported that the border has been quiet since Friday morning, except for some limited gunfire from the Israeli side. This occurs amid a temporary truce mediated by Qatar between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, a truce that has not officially extended to Lebanon. Meanwhile, Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri told reporters on Thursday, "What happens in Gaza happens in Lebanon." Berri added, "If there is a breach in Gaza, there will be a breach in Lebanon, considering that what is happening in the south is for Gaza."
