U.S. stocks closed sharply higher today, Tuesday, with the Nasdaq index showing the highest increase, after weaker inflation data boosted expectations that the Federal Reserve will not raise interest rates again. According to preliminary data, the S&P 500 index rose by 84.48 points or 1.91% to 4496.03 points, while the Nasdaq composite increased by 325.03 points or 2.36% to 14094.38 points. The Dow Jones Industrial Average also climbed by 488.84 points or 1.42% to 34826.71 points.
