U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken revealed today, Friday, that he spoke by phone with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan regarding "the joint efforts of both countries to promote peace in Sudan and Yemen." Blinken added on Twitter, "I had an important discussion with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan about our joint efforts to promote peace in Sudan and Yemen, and I expressed the United States' gratitude for Saudi Arabia's crucial assistance in facilitating the departure of American citizens from Sudan through Jeddah."
In Saudi Arabia, the official news agency (SPA) reported that Prince Faisal bin Farhan received a phone call from Blinken, and "the two ministers discussed the developments in Sudan, emphasizing the importance of halting military escalation between the conflicting parties and ending the violence."
It further stated: "The two sides reviewed the latest developments in the U.S.-Saudi initiative aimed at hosting representatives from both sides in Jeddah, which seeks to prepare the necessary ground for dialogue to reduce tensions and ensure the security and stability of Sudan and its people." The discussion also covered aspects of bilateral relations between the two countries and prospects for cooperation in various fields, as well as issues of mutual interest.
