German coach Jürgen Klopp stated that his team's performance this season will not be remembered in the history books following their goalless draw against Crystal Palace, which diminished their chances of reaching the Premier League's top four. Liverpool was aiming to recover from a heavy home defeat of 5-2 against Real Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday, but they returned with a disappointing draw from Selhurst Park after failing to control the rhythm of the game.
Liverpool currently sits in seventh place in the league, six points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur, with one game remaining for Klopp's team. The German coach told reporters on Saturday: "I see in your eyes and the players' eyes as if we lost the match, which did not happen." He added, "We blame ourselves for many things, but we can't suffer because of our history, this is not a joke." He continued, "This season will not be remembered by everyone in the records of history, there will be no films made about it or anything like that, but we have to get past it in any way, and we will do that."
Liverpool's next match will be against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the league on Wednesday, followed by a clash with rivals Manchester United four days later.
