Bassem Taless, President of the Federations and Unions of the Land Transport Sector, stated in a press release that "with the skyrocketing price of the dollar and its impact on fuel prices, spare parts, the cost of living, and its effect on public drivers, there is indifference from the officials. Since the situation can no longer be tolerated by public drivers across Lebanese territory and all their categories, I invite colleagues—presidents and members of the federations and unions of the land transport sector in all categories (cars, vans, buses, trucks, tankers, fuel distributors, gas distributors...)—as well as heads of stops and route managers to a meeting at 10:30 AM on Monday, January 30, 2023, at the General Labor Union headquarters to discuss necessary escalation steps and determine a date for the uprising of the land transport sector across all Lebanese territory."
