Foreign media reported that a coup is happening in Congo on the eve of President Denis Sassou Nguesso's trip to New York to participate in the United Nations General Assembly meetings. Reports indicate that the military is taking control of key facilities in the capital. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Communications and Media in the Congo has denied rumors of a coup in the country. Minister Thierry Moungala wrote on the platform "X" this evening: "The government denies these rumors and confirms that no military coup has occurred in Brazzaville, urging the public to remain calm and citizens to continue with their usual activities." It is noted that Congo shares a border with the Central African Republic. Nguesso is a military and statesman born in 1943 in the village of Edou near Oyo in Congo since its independence in 1960 from France. He assumed the presidency of the People's Republic of Congo in 1997 after the ousting of elected President Pascal Lissouba in the early months of the civil war in Congo-Brazzaville, a return to power that was recognized by the international community. He is a Congolese politician and military figure in the Republic of Congo.
