Basil Fears Decision to Halt UNRWA Funding

Head of the "Free Patriotic Movement," MP Gebran Bassil, noted in a post on "X" that "we fear that the decision to withhold funding from UNRWA is a prelude to liquidating the Palestinian cause and making resettlement a reality in host countries." Bassil believes that "the decision deprives the agency of assistance for Palestinian refugees and its humanitarian repercussions are catastrophic." He stated, "If they intend to apply the funding cuts to all the agency's activities in the region, the decision will have significant political consequences. Lebanon will not pay the price again."
