First Canadian Player in Serie A: Buchanan Joins Inter Milan

Inter Milan announced today, Friday, its signing of Tajon Buchanan from Belgian club Club Brugge, making him the first Canadian player to participate in the Italian Serie A. Italian media reports indicate that Buchanan (24 years old) has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract in a deal valued at seven million euros (7.69 million dollars) plus an additional three million euros in bonuses.

Buchanan stated in an interview on Inter Milan's website: "I am truly proud to be the first Canadian to play in Serie A, this is a tremendous achievement that makes me very proud. I have been following Inter Milan for a long time, it is a team I see myself in. I am really excited about what awaits me."

Buchanan has participated in 35 matches for the Canadian national team and started all three of the team's matches in the group stage of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. He played in 12 league matches this season with Club Brugge, scoring two goals.
