Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant arrived in the Gaza Strip by sea on Saturday, the second day of the ceasefire between his army and Hamas, stating that future negotiations with Hamas would be "under fire." The Israeli Ministry of Defense did not publish a photo of Gallant on the boat or the beach where he landed, instead sharing an image of Gallant surrounded by several officers and soldiers, wearing a helmet and a bulletproof vest.
In remarks made from Gaza, he stated that Israeli forces would not leave Gaza until all hostages were returned to Israel. He added, "Any future negotiations with Hamas will be conducted under fire." According to the "Times of Israel," Gallant made these statements during a tour of Gaza, his first since the outbreak of the Israeli war on Gaza following Hamas's surprise attack. The report noted that Gallant arrived in Gaza by sea accompanied by Vice Admiral David Saar Salama, commander of the Israeli naval forces.
