Plague Knocks on the Doors of New Mexico, USA

The New Mexico Department of Health announced the first death from plague in the state since 2020. The department stated in a statement that a man from Lincoln County, New Mexico, died from the plague after being hospitalized due to the illness. This is the first human plague case in New Mexico since 2021 and the first death since 2020.
