The European Commission stated today, Tuesday, that "the review of its development aid for Palestinians found no evidence that the funds are going to the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), and it will resume its program immediately." The Commission's Executive Vice President, Valdis Dombrovskis, said, "The review did not reach any indicators that the terrorist organization Hamas benefitted directly or indirectly from EU funds." Commission President Ursula von der Leyen explained that "the review was necessary following Hamas's attack on Israel on October 7." She added: "This review confirmed that the guarantees in place are effective. Work is now underway to determine our future support for the Palestinians in light of the changing and still evolving situation."
