Australian authorities have charged a former childcare worker with sexually assaulting 91 girls in what police described as the "most horrific" case of sexual exploitation. According to a statement, "the assaults occurred between 2007 and 2022 at 10 different childcare centers and specifically targeted girls who had not yet reached puberty, a total of 91."
Police explained that "the man has been charged with 1,623 separate crimes, including 136 counts of rape and 110 counts of engaging in sexual acts with a girl under 10 years old." They noted that "the accused had previously passed all the strict background checks required to work with children in Australia."
Investigators examined vast amounts of horrific material on the phone of the 45-year-old man, confirming that "this material allowed them to identify all his victims." A senior police investigator stated, "What this person did to these children goes beyond any person's imagination." He added, "All I can say is that you try not to be shocked after a long career in police work, but this is a horrifying case."
