The International Criminal Court announced today, Thursday, that Prosecutor Karim Khan is visiting Israel at the request of Israeli survivors and the families of victims of the attack launched by the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) on October 7. The court added that Khan will also visit Ramallah in the occupied West Bank to meet with senior Palestinian officials. It stated that the visit is not for the purpose of an investigation, and it "represents an opportunity to express solidarity with all victims and engage in a dialogue." Last month, the families of Hamas attack victims pleaded with the International Criminal Court to issue an order for an investigation into the killings and abductions. They urged Khan to focus his investigation on Hamas's conduct in southern Israel, including cases of enforced disappearances, which the court considers a crime against humanity. A total of 6,500 people are reported missing, and many fear that they may still be buried under the rubble.
