The spokesperson for the Israeli Army, Avichai Adraee, claimed that "the army and the Shin Bet killed the leader of the Shuja'iyya Brigade affiliated with Hamas, named Wissam Farhat." He explained in a statement on the platform "X" that "Farhat has led the brigade since 2010 and also commanded it during Operation Protective Edge (2014). He participated in planning the attack on Israeli territory on October 7 last month, where he sent operatives from Hamas' elite unit that day toward Kibbutz Nahal Oz and the adjacent site." Adraee claimed that "since the beginning of the fighting, the army and the Shin Bet have dealt severe damage to the military capabilities of the Shuja'iyya Brigade in Hamas, starting with eliminating its senior leadership and ending with destroying its infrastructure and combat means."
