Ultra marathon runner Katia Rashid will face a new challenge as she attempts to break her Lebanese record set in last year’s 24-hour running event. This attempt will take place in Alberta, Canada, on Saturday, June 10, with 37 other Canadian runners. Rashid will compete on an athletics track in an event supervised by the International and Canadian federations, noting that she previously ran a distance of 168 km continuously during the Asian Championship held in India in July of last year.
Rashid, a member of the Lebanese Athletics Federation, has been an elite international runner specializing in ultra marathons for several years. She is recognized as one of the most prominent athletes in Lebanon, the Middle East, and Asia. She arrived in Alberta from Montreal, where she resides, at the beginning of this year to participate in this sporting event, the Canadian Championship for ultra marathon distances. She hopes to achieve her goal of breaking her personal record of running 168 km in 24 hours, which is an exceptional feat.
In preparation for the race, Rashid ran a total of 724 km over 31 days in May, participating in daily long-distance runs, driven by her passion for ultra distances. It is worth noting that international runner Rashid has previously competed in dozens of races around the world, covering distances of 100 km and 200 km, and she has made her mark in the international golden record for ultra marathon distances.
