A report from the Israeli Broadcasting Authority (Kan) has revealed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's desire to push Hezbollah away from the border area by several kilometers. Kan reported that Netanyahu recently attended a meeting of the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Security Committee, where he indicated that "Israel's intention is to establish a buffer zone reaching the Litani River," with the aim of "driving Hezbollah back."
Later, a senior politician stated before the same committee that Israel might only seek to move Hezbollah a few kilometers away after discussions with American and French mediators. However, "in such a case, Hezbollah’s infrastructure will not be evacuated from the area, nor even to the point where its fighters will operate," according to the broadcasting authority.
The report further noted that this means “Hezbollah's weapon depots, military sites, and other infrastructure will remain in place, including those close to the border.” On Monday, Israeli media reported that Hezbollah has begun withdrawing its elite forces, known as the "Radwan Force," from the border areas.
