The US State Department announced today, Monday, that just over 1,200 Americans, legal permanent residents, and their family members remain in Gaza, and that at least six American citizens have been killed since the Hamas attack on Israel. State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said during a press conference that about 800 Americans and legal permanent residents, along with their families, have left Gaza via the Rafah crossing to Egypt, "leaving just over 1,200." He added that six Americans have died since the Hamas attack, including five soldiers in the Israeli army—four of whom were killed in Gaza and one in northern Israel—and one member of the Israeli Border Police.
