American Facing 20 Years in Prison in Russia for Donating $50

The British newspaper "The Times" revealed details about a woman who holds both American and Russian citizenship, who was arrested by Russian authorities on charges of treason. The arrest came after she donated approximately $50 to a Ukrainian charity. A Russian non-governmental legal organization stated that the woman, reported by Russian media to be named Ksenia Kavana, may be accused of transferring $51 to a Ukrainian charity in February 2022, the month when Kremlin forces invaded their western neighbor. According to media reports, the woman, who still holds Russian citizenship, could face a prison sentence of up to 20 years.
